Our client is seeking a Lead Payroll Tax Analyst to join their team!

Provide expert level payroll tax compliance knowledge to assist in the development and support of the company’s SaaS software solutions that facilitate tax calculations, payments and filings for Federal, states, territories and local jurisdictions including ACH processing and tax issue resolutions. Oversee the daily tasks of assigned Product Research Team members. Guide activities to ensure project, department and corporate goals are met. Operates with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
• Perform under general direction from the Manager, Product Research, Requirements and Analysis
• Work with stakeholders and decision makers to complete project tasks. Collaborate with internal teams including Customer Support, QA/Certification, IT and Data Support Specialists and external end users and taxing authority contacts
• Serve as a payroll tax filling, payments and compliance subject matter expert; prioritize research requests and analyze and interpret results
• Interpret regulatory information and assist in creating detailed functional specifications
• Participate in payroll industry group forums, meetings, and organizations
• Maintain currency and the highest level of industry wide application knowledge to support the company’s products
• Participate in Performance Reviews of team members
• Develop subordinates (i.e. train, motivate, mentor, monitor conduct and work performance, oversee disciplinary actions using established company procedures)
• Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the company’s calculation, tax filing, payments, and tax profile set up products
• Review and provide recommendations based upon industry standards and approve tax filing, payment, amendment, correction, and recordkeeping processes
• Ensure that regulatory processes in the company’s products, in particular filing and payment functionality, comply with regulations and that existing and new filing and payment requirements are known and met

Required Skills & Experience
• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business preferred, other disciplines when combined with 7+ years of payroll tax filing experience.
• CPP strongly desired, CPA desired
• 5+ years’ recent experience with payroll tax filing, payments, ACH processing, reconciliations and agency resolutions required
• Prior responsibility for payroll compliance including handling and approving either:
- a large multi-state company’s high volume, complex tax reporting and filing processed in house (without using a payroll service bureau), or - a medium or larger size payroll service bureau’s high volume, complex tax reporting and filing
• Highly knowledgeable with payroll compliance regulations and processes
• Background solving complex multi-state and local payroll tax issues
• Ability to negotiate positive resolutions with payroll tax agencies
• Experience overseeing daily activities of Payroll Tax professionals
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; detail-oriented; collaborator
• Strong project management and project coordination skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and SQL
