Job Description

We are seeking a senior-level Cloud Optimization Architect to lead the financial and technical evolution of an enterprise, Azure-first cloud environment. This role owns optimization of a $1M+ annual Azure spend through Infrastructure‑as‑Code, automated governance, and data‑driven FinOps practices. The architect will design and enforce Azure policies and guardrails, integrate cost controls into CI/CD pipelines, and partner closely with development and DevOps teams to ensure cloud resources are deployed efficiently and responsibly. This position also supports cost‑effective resiliency and observability strategies, including optimization of data platforms such as Azure Databricks, with a strong focus on long‑term scalability, governance, and financial accountability. We are seeking a Cloud Optimization Architect to lead the financial and technical evolution of our Azure ecosystem. This is a senior-level technical role focused on the intersection of high-performance engineering and cloud financial accountability. You will be the primary architect responsible for ensuring our $1M+ annual Azure spend is optimized for maximum value through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), automated governance, and data-driven FinOps practices.

Required Skills & Experience

8+ years in IT infrastructure or systems engineering
5+ years of hands-on Azure architecture experience in enterprise environments
Direct ownership of Azure cost optimization, managing $50k–$100k+ monthly spend
Experience working in a 99% Azure environment (Azure-first required)
Expert-level IaC using Terraform (production, 100% IaC) with CI/CD integration and change controls
Strong Azure governance expertise, including Azure Policy, Management Groups, tagging, and preventative guardrails
Proven FinOps experience optimizing cloud spend across engineering and finance stakeholders
Advanced understanding of Azure billing and cost analysis (EA/MCA agreements, pricing models, Resource Graph/KQL)
Hands-on experience optimizing Azure Databricks, ADLS, and Entra ID integrations
Ability to partner effectively with development, platform/DevOps, and policy stakeholders

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred certifications or equivalent hands-on experience across Azure DevOps, application development, networking, identity & access management, and hybrid infrastructure:
• FinOps Certified Practitioner (FOCP) – Highly Preferred
• AZ-305: Azure Solutions Architect Expert
• AZ-400: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert
• AZ-700: Azure Network Engineer Associate
• SC-300: Identity and Access Administrator Associate
