Job Description

Insight Global is assisting a client in identifying a System Engineer for a 6-month contract to hire hybrid schedule opportunity north of Atlanta, GA . This team responsible for architecting, deploying, and supporting our IT infrastructure, including on-premises and cloud-based systems. This role predominantly focuses on maintaining Windows Server environments, configuration management, monitoring systems, virtualization platforms, and automation tools to optimize performance and support business objectives.


• Backup and Restore: Leverage deep understanding of backup strategies and methodologies, as well as disaster recovery and business continuity situations.
• Collaboration and Communication: Excellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacy. Clearly communicate updates, progress, and technical concepts to stakeholders and management. Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Compliance and Safety: Adhere to corporate policies, ensuring all activities meet safety and security standards.
• Documentation: Develop and maintain documentation for server, network, and IT infrastructure assets and processes, as well as showcase good ticket management skills.
• End-User Support: Provide next-level support for technology-related issues and requests.
• Planning and Execution: Ability to follow work plans, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality results.
• Productivity Apps: Intermediate proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
• Project Management: Lead small scale IT efforts, as well as participate in cross-functional projects.
• Problem Solving: Use strong troubleshooting skills and in-depth knowledge of multi-site, mixed-technology enterprise environments.
• Preventative Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on hardware and software systems to ensure reliability.
• On-Call Support: Participate in a rotational schedule for off-hours system support.
• Security: Showcase a strong security mindset, with clear understanding of security best practices, security controls and risk mitigation strategies.
• Workload management: Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Required Skills & Experience

• At least 1-3 years of hands-on system engineering
• Proven Microsoft Windows/VMware server experience in complex environments, building new servers, decommissioning old servers, following standard operating procedures
• Directory Services: Possess a strong understanding of user and group policy management in an on-prem Active Directory environment.
• Networking fundamentals
• Team player with accountability

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Automation: Experience with Terraform or Ansible Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools. Powershell or other scripting experience
• Cloud Administration: Manage Microsoft Azure cloud resources, namely experience with deploying cloud-native applications, virtual machine management, service endpoint and network configuration, and/or Azure Virtual Desktops.
• Any Azure of infrastructure certifications
• Backup and Recovery: Perform system backups and recovery to ensure data integrity and disaster readiness, using tools like Veeam and Exagrid.
• Monitoring and Optimization: Leverage SolarWinds and Dynatrace for system monitoring and performance tuning.
• Configuration Management: Use Microsoft SCCM/ConfigMgr to deploy software, manage updates, and ensure system consistency.
• Virtualization: Hands-on expertise with VMware 7, ideally in a Dell VxRails environment, including resource allocation and optimization for virtualized workloads.
