This is a 25 bed nursing unit with four rooms designed for semi-private occupancy. It is a med/surg unit designated to care for patients with renal and gastro illnesses, as well as other general medical patients in time of high census. As the designated renal medical unit, this unit specializes in caring for patients that require peritoneal dialysis and is the preferred unit for these patients to be placed if clinically appropriate. Care is provided for a wide variety of illnesses and symptoms, including but not limited to:
End stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis
End stage renal disease requiring peritoneal dialysis
Rhabdomyolysis
Acute kidney injury
Acute renal failure
Hematuria requiring continuous bladder irrigation
Ulcerative Colitis
Chron's disease
Liver cirrhosis
Gastrointestinal hemorrhage
Abdominal pain (non-surgical), N/V/D, gastritis
Cholecystitis
Other medical patients in times of high census
