Job Description

Job Overview:
We are seeking a Data Governance Implementation Specialist in Atlanta, GA. In this role, you will lead the implementation of our new Data Governance (DG) tool, ensuring smooth integration and compliance with data policies. You will develop systems, document policies, and collaborate with leadership to ensure proper governance, retention, and adherence to data standards.

Key Responsibilities:
Manage the DG tool implementation by coordinating with subject matter experts (SMEs) and stakeholders.
Create systems to support data governance and retention, providing clear documentation for compliance.
Apply legal compliance rules to data retention and handling processes.
Serve as the primary contact for data governance queries and management.
Ensure cross-functional teams successfully adopt data governance processes through support and training.
Oversee data retention policies, advising leadership on best practices for long-term data storage and usage.
Troubleshoot data governance issues with SMEs, ensuring deadlines are met.
Assist in developing and documenting data governance processes, business rule updates, and stewardship models.
Research and document data control standards and criteria for priority data sets, escalating issues as needed.
Develop and maintain metrics and dashboards to track data governance progress.
Provide training and support to data stewards and stakeholders on policies and Alation platform configurations.

Required Skills & Experience

Skills and Experience Required:

4+ years of experience in data governance or data management.
Proven experience in data governance implementation and system management.
Strong documentation, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience managing multiple tasks and working with cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in SQL for defect analysis and data handling.
Familiarity with Jira for project management.
Understanding of data privacy regulations and retention policies.
Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred Skills:

Experience with Snowflake (data management) tool.
