Job Description

Designs, develops, supports, and enhances transportation and logistics applications for routing, last-mile delivery, warehouse integration, and intelligent detection capabilities. Partners closely with Product Teams to translate product roadmaps and business priorities into scalable, reliable application solutions. Performs testing and troubleshooting throughout the application lifecycle to support enhancements and new transportation solutions.

• Designs and documents technical design specifications to meet transportation and logistics business needs identified through Product Team roadmaps, application requirements, user stories, support tickets, and test defects
• Understands basic XML structure to assist with designing schema for large-scale enterprise data integration
• Collaborates with Product Managers and Product Owners to refine requirements, validate solution design, and align application enhancements to product strategy
• Develops and delivers transportation and routing application enhancements (e.g., route planning, delivery execution, final mile workflows) to support approved product features and operational outcomes
• Participates in product discovery, backlog refinement, and sprint activities, providing application level input on feasibility, dependencies, and risks
• Performs unit testing on application enhancements prior to progressing changes through quality assurance and release processes
• Develops and executes test plans and scripts for functional, performance, regression, and user acceptance testing in coordination with Product and QA teams
• Skilled in forecasting and estimating scope defining level of effort (LOE) for project tasks and deliverables
• Breaks down complex concepts and assists in turning into actionable items with effective timelines
• Supports and evaluates applications for compliance with security, data, and integration protocols, particularly across transportation and warehouse systems
• Partners with Product, Transportation Operations, Warehouse Operations, and Software Vendors during incident triage, prioritization, and root cause analysis
• Contributes to peer reviews and cross functional product delivery activities involving engineering, product, and operations stakeholders


Rate: $50-60 an hour depending on skills and experience

Required Skills & Experience

• 2+ years of experience in application engineering, preferably supporting transportation, logistics, or supply chain systems
• Experience with project and product delivery methodologies (Agile)
• Exposure to transportation or routing platforms (e.g., Descartes or similar route planning/TMS tools) preferred

• Demonstrates skill in data analysis and problem solving, resolving missing or inconsistent operational and transportation data impacting routing, execution, or delivery visibility
• Works with increasing independence while aligning execution to product priorities and delivery timelines
• Engages Product Teams for guidance on roadmap alignment, scope decisions, and feature intent when handling complex or ambiguous issues
• May provide general guidance, knowledge sharing, or informal training to junior level engineers or support personnel
• Must be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously demonstrating the ability to prioritize tasks and act promptly when challenges arise
