Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead and coordinate a complex product sunset program as part of a large-scale technology transformation initiative. This role will be responsible for driving the planning, execution, and delivery of activities required to successfully retire legacy products, applications, or services while ensuring minimal disruption to business operations, customers, and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of program delivery expertise, business acumen, change leadership, and executive communication skills. They must be comfortable navigating ambiguity, influencing stakeholders across multiple functions, managing resistance to change, and translating technical decisions into meaningful business impacts. The pay rate ranges based off years of experience and location between $55-65/hour.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of product sunset and decommissioning initiatives across multiple workstreams. Partner with teams from Technology, Operations, Product and Sales to design and execute against required milestones.
• Develop and manage project plan, timelines, risks, dependencies, milestones, and executive reporting.
• Partner closely with business, product, technology, operations, compliance, and customer-facing teams to ensure alignment throughout the product retirement lifecycle.
• Drive cross-functional decision-making and facilitate resolution of complex issues and competing priorities.
• Assess and communicate business impacts associated with technology changes, ensuring stakeholders understand risks, benefits, and required actions.
• Develop and execute stakeholder engagement and communication strategies to support organizational readiness and adoption.
• Proactively identify resistance, objections, or barriers to change and create actionable plans to address them.
• Lead governance activities and provide regular updates to program leadership, steering committees, and senior executives.
• Manage project risks, escalations, dependencies, and mitigation plans to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
• Ensure appropriate documentation, operational transition planning, customer communications, and post-sunset activities are completed.

• Ability to connect technology requirements, architecture decisions, and implementation plans to measurable business outcomes and impacts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a focus on balancing business needs and technical constraints.
• Intellectually curious; able to ask questions confidently to help drive progress forward.
Program & Risk Management
• Experience managing large-scale, cross-functional programs with significant dependencies and organizational impacts.
• Proficient in risk identification, mitigation planning, issue management, and executive escalation processes.
Success Measures
The successful candidate will:
• Create a reasonable project / program plan accounting for technical requirements and business impacts.
• Deliver product sunset milestones on schedule and within defined governance expectations.
• Maintain strong stakeholder alignment throughout the program lifecycle.
• Effectively manage organizational change and resistance.
• Clearly communicate business impacts and technology decisions to executive audiences.
• Enable a seamless transition from legacy products to future-state solutions while minimizing customer and operational disruption.
• Foster a collaborative team with correct stakeholders to ensure minimal customer disruption.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years of project or program management experience leading complex, enterprise-scale initiatives.
• Demonstrated success delivering technology transformation, application retirement, product migration, or modernization programs.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies, governance frameworks, and change management principles.
• Proven experience managing multiple stakeholders across business and technology organizations.
• Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting product sunsets, platform migrations, digital transformation programs, or technology modernization initiatives.
• Familiarity with change management frameworks such as Prosci or equivalent methodologies.
• PMP, PgMP, Agile, or comparable project management certification.
• Experience operating in highly regulated or complex enterprise environments.
