Job Description

Summary:
Our client is looking for a self-motivated, highly experienced Senior and Junior Oracle DBA to join their team to help create and support Oracle in their environment. This person will be joining the System Administrations Team of 6+ other DBAs and System Admins and Engineers to build and operate all internal systems in their networking data centers supporting 25 international customers.

Required Skills & Experience

Senior Oracle DBA
Core Competencies:
Deep Expertise in Oracle Database Administration: Proven experience with database installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades.
HA and DR Solutions: Thorough understanding and implementation of high availability and disaster recovery strategies (e.g., Data Guard, RAC).
Performance Optimization: Ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks using SQL tuning, index optimization, and system configuration adjustments.
Backup and Recovery: Expertise in backup and recovery procedures, including RMAN, flashback, and data recovery techniques.
Security: Knowledge of Oracle security best practices and implementation of security measures (e.g., TDE, advanced auditing, encryption).
Oracle Engineered Platforms: Familiarity with Oracle Engineered Systems, such as ODA and Exadata

Additional Skills:
Problem-solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues.
Communication: Effective communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with other team members and departments.
Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest Oracle technologies and trends.
Certifications:
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP): Relevant Oracle certifications (e.g., OCP 1Z0-064, OCP 1Z0-071) can be beneficial.


Junior Oracle DBA
Essential Skills:
Basic SQL knowledge: Understanding of SQL syntax, data types, and simple queries.
Linux/Unix fundamentals: Familiarity with basic commands and navigation.
Problem-solving: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Communication: Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Teamwork: Ability to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.

Desired Skills (but not essential):
Oracle Database experience: Basic knowledge of Oracle Database concepts (e.g., instances, databases, tablespaces).
Scripting: Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
Database administration tools: Familiarity with tools like SQL*Plus, SQL Developer.

Remember: The most important quality for a Junior Oracle DBA is a strong desire to learn and grow within the field.
