Job Description

MIDAS: Senior Backend Engineer, Data
Overview: looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer, DAta to build nad maintain the
software systems that power our healthcare data platform. You will be building robust, scalable
applications and services that enable our teams to process complex clinical data efficiently while
empowering data and analytics engineers to do more with higher data quality.

Key Responsibilities:
o Platform Software Development: end-to-end ownership of software applications, APIs,
and services that support our data platform
o Service Architecture: develop microservice and serverless-based applications that
support end-to-end data lifecycle from ingest through to customer impact
o Developer Experience: develop tools, libraries, and frameworks that enable
data/analytics engineers and data scientists to work more efficiently and safely with
clinical data
o Infrastructure and DevOps: develop automation tooling, monitoring, and operational
software that ensures platform reliability and observability, as well as compliance and
privacy with healthcare data
o Technical Leadership: drive best engineering practices across team and org, partner
cross-functionally and collaborate to drive adoption of clinical data products
o AI-leveraged Engineering: leverage LLMs to accelerate tasks like data modelling, query
writing/rewriting, document creation, code review, synthetic/test data generation

Required Skills & Experience

Required Qualifications:
o 5+ years with a track record of leading complex projects and building production-grade
services
o Self-starter and ability to drive impact with minimal high level direction
o Expert programming skills in node.js, Python, or other modern programming language
with emphasis on backend development
o Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
o Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing (AWS, Azure, GCP),
containerization, orchestration, and CI/CD
o Deep understanding of data architecture, APIs, and data-intensive systems (distributed
datastores, data warehouses/lakes, big data processing that handles structured datasets)

Technical Skills:
o Programming: node.js/Typescript, Python, SQL
o Data Technologies: Apache Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake, Databricks, Looker, Avro,
Airflow/Prefect
o Databases: MongoDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, PostgresSQL, Redis, S3
o Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure, GCP
o Automation: Jenkins, Gitlab CI, Github Actions, Apache Airflow
o Monitoring: Datadog, Prometheus, Cloudwatch

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred Qualifications
o Experience with healthcare data
o Experience with HIPAA or other compliance-heavy industries
o Background in data and analytics
