Job Description

Design and develop architectural solutions for lottery, betting, and gaming applications using Java Spring Boot, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.
Architect and optimize high-throughput transactional systems to handle real-time gaming transactions with low latency and high availability.
Provide technical leadership and guidance to development teams.
Define and enforce software development best practices, coding standards, and architectural patterns for gaming applications.
Collaborate with stakeholders to translate complex lottery and gaming business requirements into secure and resilient technical designs.
Lead the selection of appropriate technologies, frameworks, and tools within the Spring ecosystem.
Apply design patterns and best practices relevant to real-time gaming systems, such as Event Sourcing, CQRS, Circuit Breaker, and State Machines.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations such as Gaming Commission standards, PCI-DSS, GDPR, and responsible gaming regulations.
Oversee integration with payment providers, gaming APIs, and third-party gaming services.
Implement robust fraud detection and prevention mechanisms to protect gaming platforms.
Evaluate and improve system performance, security, and compliance.
Conduct code reviews, security assessments, and performance testing to ensure resilience and regulatory compliance.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to the lottery and gaming sector.

Compensation ranges from 110,000.0 GBP - 140,000.0 GBP.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as an Application Architect specializing in lottery, gaming, or high-transaction environments.
Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot, including Spring MVC, Spring Data, and Spring Security.
Extensive experience with real-time, high-availability gaming or lottery systems, including transaction integrity and concurrency management.
Expertise in microservices architecture, event-driven design, and cloud-native gaming applications.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, specifically for high-throughput gaming workloads.
Expertise in API design, secure RESTful services, and integration with gaming platforms and payment providers.
Strong knowledge of database design, including Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL (SQL) and MongoDB, Cassandra (NoSQL) for large-scale gaming data.
Proven experience in designing and optimizing gaming transaction processing systems with low latency and high concurrency.
Experience with RabbitMQ for messaging and event-driven architectures in gaming transactions.
Proficiency in caching strategies using Redis or similar technologies to enhance real-time gaming experiences.
Strong understanding of containerization and orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.
Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing for gaming software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on gaming security, fairness, and fraud prevention.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with random number generation (RNG) algorithms, game logic design, and payout calculations.
Knowledge of real-time betting systems, eSports platforms, or casino gaming software.
Experience with gaming regulatory compliance and responsible gaming initiatives.
Deep understanding of software design patterns and their real-world applications in gaming systems.
