Job Description

Overview
We are seeking a Retiree Benefits Specialist to support employees transitioning into retirement and assist current retirees with ongoing benefits administration. This role is highly client-facing and requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to guide individuals through complex benefits decisions.
The ideal candidate will serve as a trusted resource for retirees by providing education, resolving issues, and managing benefit-related processes.

Key Responsibilities
Retiree Outreach & Education

Conduct proactive outreach to employees approaching retirement to guide them through available benefits options
Lead 1:1 meetings with employees to discuss retirement readiness and benefit selections
Educate retirees on available plans, including:

Medical and healthcare plans
Dental coverage
Life insurance options


Explain retirement-related programs such as:

457, 401(k), and 401(a) plans
FRS (Florida Retirement System), including retirement notifications and coordination



Client Support & Issue Resolution

Serve as the primary point of contact for retiree inquiries via phone and email
Assist with real-time support, including:

Missing insurance bills
Coverage cancellations or changes
General benefit questions post-retirement


Handle escalations with professionalism and strong conflict resolution skills

Benefits Administration & Operations

Support retiree benefits enrollment, updates, and maintenance
Reconcile insurance billing and ensure accuracy of retiree accounts
Manage billing processes using systems such as WageWorks
Perform consistent and accurate data entry within internal systems
Maintain up-to-date records for all retiree interactions and transactions

Compliance & Coordination

Ensure proper documentation and compliance with retirement and benefits processes
Coordinate with internal teams and retirement systems (e.g., FRS) to confirm retiree status and benefit activation
Support audits or reporting related to retiree benefits

PR: $22/hr.

Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications

Associate’s degree (AA) required
2+ years of experience in benefits administration, HR support, or a related customer-facing role
Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills
Experience handling high-volume phone inquiries
High attention to detail with strong data entry accuracy
Ability to communicate complex benefits information in a clear, simple manner


Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting retiree or employee benefits programs
Familiarity with retirement plans (401k, 457, pension systems such as FRS)
Experience with benefits billing platforms (e.g., WageWorks)
Prior work in HR, benefits, insurance, or public sector environments

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching.
