Job Description

SMArtX Advisory Solutions is seeking a senior‑level AWS Cognito Engineer to join its growing engineering team in the financial technology space. This role is focused on designing, implementing, and owning the identity and access management (IAM) layer for cloud‑native applications, with Amazon Cognito serving as the core identity platform.

Ideal PR: $24-$28 USD/HR

This is a high‑ownership role for an engineer who has implemented, supported, and scaled Cognito in production environments and can act as a technical authority on authentication, authorization, and OAuth‑based identity flows. You will work across the stack and partner closely with product, design, and engineering to deliver secure, reliable, and high‑performance solutions.

We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. If you need assistance and/or a reasonable accommodation due to a disability during the application or recruiting process, please send a request to HR@insightglobal.com.To learn more about how we collect, keep, and process your private information, please review Insight Global's Workforce Privacy Policy: https://insightglobal.com/workforce-privacy-policy/.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong, hands‑on experience with AWS Cognito, including implementation, customization, and long‑term support in production environments.
- Demonstrated experience owning IAM architectures, not just integrating them.
- Deep understanding of authentication vs authorization, OAuth 2.0 grant types, JWTs, claims, scopes, and groups.
- Proficiency with C#/.NET Core and Python.
- Strong experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
- 4+ years working with relational databases (SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL).
- 3+ years building cloud‑native applications on AWS.
- 3+ years working with Docker or containerized applications.
- Experience with automated testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- AWS certifications.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, and Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform knowledge preferred but not required).
- Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical initiatives.
- Experience migrating from legacy identity solutions (e.g., IdentityServer) to Cognito.
- Comfort acting as the IAM subject‑matter expert and influencing architectural decisions.

Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
