Job Description

The Operative Mechanic serves as the primary frontline operator responsible for safe, reliable power generation and mechanical support within a combined‑cycle power plant environment. This role blends operations and mechanical maintenance, with approximately 70% plant operations and 30% mechanical/maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities:
Operate and monitor HRSG systems, gas turbines, package boilers, chillers, plant breakers, and electrical busses.
Perform routine plant inspections, identify issues, and troubleshoot conditions that may lead to outages.
Start up, shut down, and forecast equipment operation based on site demand (site does not run daily).
Conduct mechanical maintenance on rotating equipment, pumps, valves, and auxiliary systems.
Maintain strict adherence to OSHA standards, Lockout/Tagout, and safe work permit procedures.
Complete shift rounds, document findings, and ensure stable operations throughout the 12‑hour day shift.
Follow detailed procedures and operational protocols with precision and consistency.

12‑hour day shift: 7AM–7PM
Modified work schedule; small team environment. 2 days on, 1 off, 3 on, etc. Must be willing to work holidays.

Required Skills & Experience

- 3–5 years of experience in power generation or industrial operations (steam, water systems, boilers, or similar).
- Experience with mechanical systems, rotating equipment, and plant operations.
- Strong understanding of safety practices, including LOTO and OSHA requirements.
- Ability to work independently within a small team of eight and demonstrate long‑term commitment.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Navy (nuclear or shipboard) experience is highly transferable and valued.
