Job Description
We are seeking a hands-on Principal Software Engineer to evaluate, modernize, and lead the future development of our business-critical software applications. This role will partner directly with executive leadership to assess an existing outsourced platform, create a roadmap for internal ownership, and drive our long-term technology strategy.
Responsibilities
Assess existing software architecture, codebase, and vendor-supported systems.
Create a roadmap for bringing software ownership and development in-house.
Design, develop, and maintain applications using C#, .NET, and SQL Server.
Define architecture, development standards, and future-state technology strategy.
Integrate with third-party platforms, APIs, and business systems.
Identify opportunities for automation, AI, and process improvements.
Serve as the technical leader while remaining hands-on with development.

Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of software engineering experience.
Strong expertise in C#, .NET, SQL Server, and system architecture.
Experience evaluating existing applications and developing modernization strategies.
Proven ability to lead projects from concept through deployment.
Strong communication skills with both technical and business stakeholders.
Experience with cloud technologies, APIs, and enterprise integrations preferred.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience in construction, engineering, manufacturing, or operational industries.
Experience bringing outsourced or vendor-managed applications in-house.
Exposure to cloud technologies (Azure preferred).
Experience with AI-powered solutions, automation tools, and workflow optimization.
Prior experience leading technical strategy or serving as a software architect/principal engineer.
