iOT QA Tester
Job Summary
We are seeking an initiative-taking and meticulous IOT QA Tester to join our team. The ideal candidate will be a self-starting tester with a passion for quality, capable of working independently to ensure the functionality, performance, and reliability of our applications and iOT integrated devices. You will play a crucial role in validating APIs, iOT devices and other integrations across multiple environments.
Responsibilities
• Create and execute test plans: Develop and execute test cases and evaluate plans for new features and product releases, covering the full IoT stack from edge devices to the cloud and applications.
• Perform Hardware & Device Level Validations: Including but not limited to Environmental Stress Testing. Connectivity resilience, Protocol conformance, Interference mitigation.
• Validate device and network performance: Test the functionality, reliability, and performance of IoT devices, sensors, and network connectivity (e.g., Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MQTT) under varying conditions.
• Ensure data integrity and security: Validate that data is securely and accurately collected, transmitted, and stored. Conduct security testing, including vulnerability scanning and penetration testing, to identify and mitigate risks.
• Perform full-stack QA: Conduct API testing, UI presentation validations, message queue validation, cloud service verification to ensure seamless end-to-end integration and functionality.
• Simulate real-world conditions: Create and perform tests that simulate realistic network disruptions, device failures, and load conditions to ensure system resilience.
• Log and track defects: Document and report defects clearly to development teams and collaborate closely with them to verify bug fixes.
• Drive continuous improvement: Analyze test results, conduct root cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts for the QA process.
• Database Validations: Write and execute SQL queries or other database querying language scripts (e.g., PL/SQL) to verify data consistency, accuracy, and adherence to business rules.

o Function as the voice of quality within the team, proactively identifying and advocating for quality improvements.
o Take initiative to understand quality standards and goals, both within the organization and the wider industry.
o Demonstrate strong ownership of testing activities and deliverables, requiring minimal supervision.
o Communicate clearly and concisely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders, ensuring a shared understanding of quality expectations and issues.
o Be able to convince colleagues and leadership of the benefits of quality assurance.
o Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of test cases, test results, and defect reports.
o Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in API testing, automation, and performance testing.
PR: $40-$45/hr.

Required Skills & Experience
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related technical field is preferred.
• Experience:
o Proven experience (e.g., 3+ years) as a QA Tester or in a similar role.
o Firsthand experience with iOT, API testing, including RESTful and SOAP APIs.
o Demonstrated proficiency in using Postman for API testing.
o Experience with database validation and SQL querying.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Skills:
o Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a keen eye for detail.
o Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for articulating testing strategies, reporting issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
o Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
o Knowledge of RESTful API design and integration, HTTP methods, and JSON/XML data formats.
o Experience with test management and bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Rally).
o Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, JavaScript) is beneficial.
