Job Description

We are looking for a hands-on software developer to build and evolve cloud native products on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). You’ll work across the stack—services, APIs, and automation—to deliver reliable features at sprint velocity. You will collaborate closely with product managers, QA, DevOps, and site reliability to design, implement, test, and release customer facing capabilities, consistent with our software engineering job family expectations for mid level contributors (P3).
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
• Design, implement, test, and debug backend services and APIs for cloud native features; integrate with internal and partner systems.
• Containerize applications (Docker) and deploy to AKS using Helm/Kustomize; manage AKS Deployments, Services, and Ingress.
• Secure workloads using Workload Identity to access Azure resources (e.g., Key Vault, Storage) and manage configuration via ConfigMaps/Azure App Configuration.
• Automate CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) and promote releases across environments; drive continuous integration, testing, and delivery practices per our DevOps family guidance.
• Observe and optimize instrument services, collect logs/metrics, tune autoscaling (HPA, cluster autoscaler), and troubleshoot AKS issues end to end.
• Collaborate in Agile ceremonies (planning, refinement, demos, retros) and contribute to high quality stories, acceptance criteria, and test coverage consistent with product team norms.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to coding standards, patterns, and operational runbooks; assist with incident response and post mortems to improve reliability.
• Partner with DevOps/SRE to enhance pipelines, infrastructure configuration, and cost/performance monitoring in line with our DevOps responsibilities.
• Reverse engineer, and support existing applications written by others build across the Azure Stack: Azure functions, Azure logic, Azure Service Bus, AKS.
• Good NoSQL query skills: Cosmos DB and MongoDB.

• Practical experience with Docker and deploying workloads to Azure AKS (Deployments, Services, Ingress, namespaces).
• CI/CD experience (Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions) and infrastructure automation (Helm/Kustomize; familiarity with Terraform/Bicep a plus).
• Cloud security and configuration: Azure AD workload identity, Key Vault, App Configuration, secrets management, least privilege.
• Observability: hands on with logs/metrics/traces (Azure Monitor; familiarity with Prometheus/Grafana welcomed).
• Working knowledge of Agile practices and collaborative delivery in cross functional product teams.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with Azure API Management (APIM) and secure API design.
• Performance tuning on AKS: resource requests/limits, image optimization, and autoscaling policies.
