Job Description
We’re hiring a senior developer with deep expertise in RPG to support and evolve mission-critical billing systems on IBM i. This is a highly specialized coding role focused on large batch programs and legacy applications.
What You’ll Do
• Own development across legacy billing applications (≈60% of time): enhance existing RPG codebases and add new functionality to mature systems.
• Build net-new capabilities (≈30–40% of time): design and develop new batch programs and supporting components.
• Troubleshoot production and downstream issues (≈10–15% of time): investigate, debug, and resolve complex batch failures and data issues.
• Analyze & advise: translate business requests into technical solutions; influence and guide partners toward scalable approaches.
• Work autonomously: execute task-oriented work during standard hours; when you’re working, you’re truly working—own deliverables and timelines.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree
• 2+ years of professional RPG programming (ILE/Free or equivalent), including batch processing.
• SQL experience (querying, tuning, and integrating SQL with RPG programs).
• Independent self starter with strong ownership and communication.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Batch debugging expertise (performance analysis, failure triage, restart strategies).
• Source control experience with Turnover (or similar SCM for IBM i).
• Familiarity with Visual Studio Code, Rational Developer for i (RDi), and green screen tooling on IBM i.
