Job Description

Perform on-site consulting services at our client in Washington, DC. This position aids in the development, management, and refinement of continuity of operations plans for a large federal organization. This role requires that the individual be familiar with key concepts and strategies supporting continuity of operations, business continuity, test, training and exercises, incident management, and disaster recovery. The Continuity Planner will need to have a working knowledge of these programs and experience employing them within a federal organization, specifically in a continuity and/or emergency management planning support role.

Required Skills & Experience

Minimum of five years’ experience in continuity planning, including developing and maintaining operational or business continuity strategies.
Skilled in conducting process and impact analyses to identify critical business functions and dependencies.
Familiarity with recognized continuity standards and guidelines, such as ISO 22301, and applicable federal frameworks.
Proven ability to create and sustain organizational continuity plans, ensuring quality assurance and incorporating clear, professional design elements.
Strong understanding of continuity concepts for core business operations and ability to collaborate with stakeholders to align requirements.
Experience engaging with senior and mid-level leadership to provide consultation, training, and facilitate collaborative sessions.
Ability to organize and lead meetings or working groups involving executive-level participants.
Demonstrated analytical skills for assessing situations, applying critical thinking, and producing timely, accurate reports.
Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) for creating documentation, presentations, and executive reports.
Track record of delivering high-quality materials tailored for leadership audiences.
Excellent technical writing capabilities.
Willingness and ability to respond to emergency deployments when required.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Background working within legislative or government organizations.
Experience designing and delivering both discussion-based and operational exercises.
Strong skills in creating and facilitating training programs.
Professional certification in continuity planning or a related discipline (e.g., business continuity, disaster recovery) from recognized industry bodies.
Positive, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Familiarity with geospatial and incident management platforms such as ArcGIS or WebEOC.
Proficiency in database tools, including Microsoft Access, SQL, or comparable systems.
Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in emergency management, crisis management, or a related field.
