Job Description

Position: Systems Operations Engineer II

Openings: 1

Salary: $106,000 – $118,000k

Location: Hybrid – 2 days onsite / 3 days remote

Schedule:
• Core hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Hospital operates 24/7
• Engineer must be willing to jump in when issues arise at any time including weekends

On-Call / Weekends / Holidays:
• On-call only when there is an issue
• Rotation schedule is still being finalized

Interview Process:
• Round 1: Virtual technical interview with 3 team members -1 hour
• Final Round: Virtual interview with Sr. Director of Enterprise Dev Ops - 1 hour

Overview: Insight Global is seeking a Systems Operations Engineer II to support a complex, mission‑critical healthcare IT environment. This is a senior‑level infrastructure role focused on stability, security, and modernization of enterprise systems that directly support patient care and hospital operations. This role is ideal for a hands‑on engineer who is comfortable owning systems end‑to‑end, cleaning up legacy environments, and driving automation and hybrid cloud initiatives with minimal oversight.

The Systems Operations Engineer II is responsible for the design, maintenance, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure across on‑premises and hybrid cloud environments. This role ensures high availability, security, and performance of systems operating in a 24/7 healthcare setting while contributing to long‑term infrastructure modernization and automation efforts.

The engineer serves as a technical subject matter expert, balancing immediate operational needs with strategic improvements in identity management, cloud adoption, automation, and disaster recovery.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
• Support and maintain Windows and Linux servers, virtualization platforms, and enterprise storage systems.
• Ensure system uptime, performance, and reliability in a high‑availability healthcare environment.
• Respond to infrastructure incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventative solutions.
• Develop scripts and automation for provisioning, configuration, and patch management.
• Improve and standardize identity and access management using Active Directory, Azure AD, SSO, and MFA.
• Support hybrid cloud initiatives and infrastructure modernization efforts (Azure/AWS).
• Assist with data center migrations, new equipment deployments, and legacy system modernization.
• Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
• Partner with security teams to support HIPAA compliance and infrastructure security standards.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with network, security, and application teams.
• Document systems, processes, and operational runbooks.
• Serve as a senior technical resource and mentor to junior team members.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (required)
• Master’s degree (preferred)

• 7+ years in systems administration / infrastructure engineering
• Healthcare or regulated‑industry experience strongly preferred

• Storage: SAN / NAS

• Strong scripting ability (PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
