Job Description

Quality Oversight: Oversee and verify the quality of all work performed, ensuring compliance with technical requirements and regulatory standards.
Material Verification: Inspect and verify that all delivered materials match project specifications and approved submittals.
Inspection Activities: Identify and conduct all required inspection activities to comply with DC Construction Codes, project drawings, specifications, and owner requirements.
Civil and Structural QA/QC: Oversee civil and structural QA/QC activities, including structural concrete and masonry work, grout work, historic wall preservation, steel work and welding, paving, soils, and sanitary/storm drain systems.
Waterproofing and Roofing: Inspect waterproofing and roofing installations to ensure proper installation and compliance with specifications.
Fire Protection: Verify fire protection and firestopping installations, ensuring compliance with relevant sections.
Doors and Plumbing: Inspect the installation of doors and plumbing systems, ensuring they meet design requirements.
HVAC and Electrical Systems: Oversee the installation and commissioning of HVAC and building electrical systems, ensuring compliance with approved designs and specifications.
Rooftop Solar Systems: Inspect and commission rooftop solar system installations.
Fire Alarm and Suppression Systems: Ensure proper installation and integration of building fire alarm and fire suppression systems.
Stage Reviews: Conduct thorough reviews at each construction stage, proactively identifying discrepancies, errors, or non-compliance.
Documentation: Maintain thorough records of inspections, tests, materials, and quality control procedures.
Progress Reporting: Provide weekly progress reports to the Project Management team, detailing project status and tracking resolution of non-conformities.
Collaboration: Work closely with the construction management team and contractors to identify and rectify issues before they reach the punch list stage.
Surveying Checks: Conduct surveying checks of building foundations, structural steel, anchor bolts, and embedded commodities for conformance to design drawings.
Excavation and Foundation Work: Inspect excavation and foundation work to ensure compliance with design criteria and address unforeseen conditions.
Waterproofing Measures: Verify correct installation of waterproofing systems and drainage systems to prevent water pooling or ingress.
Structural Integrity: Monitor the structural integrity of the building envelope, including steel framing, concrete walls, and slabs.
Building Envelope: Ensure proper sealing and insulation of walls, roofs, and doors to avoid air and water infiltration.
Roofing Systems: Inspect roofing systems, including insulation, membrane installation, flashing, and waterproofing.
Electrical Systems: Review and inspect the installation of building electrical systems.
HVAC Systems: Inspect the installation and commissioning of HVAC systems.
Plumbing Systems: Ensure plumbing systems meet design requirements and inspect water-tight seals and drainage systems.
Fireproofing: Inspect fireproofing systems for structural components and commodities, ensuring proper application of fire-resistant materials.

Required Skills & Experience

Professional Engineer (PE) license in Washington, D.C.
Minimum 5 to 12 years of experience in relevant inspection areas
Strong knowledge of DC Construction Codes, project drawings, and specifications
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and collaboration skills
