Role Overview
Provide technical leadership and oversight for a large-scale IT operations and modernization program at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ).
Drive engineering quality, systems integration, and technical execution across infrastructure, cloud, cybersecurity, application platforms, and enterprise architecture.
Ideal for a senior engineer/architect experienced in complex federal environments, balancing innovation, stability, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
Act as senior technical authority for systems design, integration, and implementation.
Align engineering with enterprise architecture, security posture, and operational requirements.
Lead modernization initiatives: cloud adoption, DevSecOps, automation, zero-trust architecture.
Collaborate with government engineers on technical strategy and architecture reviews.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Ensure end-to-end solution integrity across services.
Support system engineering life cycle (SELC): requirements, design, testing, deployment.
Deliver technical documentation and artifacts on time.
Governance & Risk
Enforce compliance with NIST, FISMA, and security standards.
Manage technical risks and dependencies.
Support root cause analysis and resolution strategies.
Documentation
Oversee quality of:
Architecture diagrams, integration plans
SELC artifacts (specs, test plans)
Security docs (risk assessments, POA&Ms)
CONOPS, SOPs, use cases

Required Skills & Experience
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s in Systems Engineering, CS, IT, or related field.
Experience: 7+ years in engineering leadership within complex IT environments.
Expertise in federal IT programs, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), DevSecOps, IaC, automation.
Strong knowledge of enterprise systems engineering, integration, and delivery practices.
Familiarity with government compliance frameworks (NIST RMF, FedRAMP, FISMA).
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Master’s degree
Certifications: AWS/Azure Architect, CISSP, ITIL, PMP, SAFe
Experience with federal SELC/SDLC
Familiarity with ServiceNow, JIRA, Confluence
