Job Description
Insight Global is hiring a Process Engineering Cost Estimator to support a major aerospace manufacturing facility in South Windsor, CT. In this role, the estimator will review high‑volume RFQs, analyze aerospace blueprints, and determine manufacturability based on part geometry, tolerances, materials, and special-process requirements. They will develop machining strategies, select appropriate equipment and process steps, and calculate cycle times using speeds/feeds, chip load, and engineering judgment. This individual will request and compare quotes for material and outside processing, input and manage RFQs within the ERP system, and participate in internal quote‑review discussions to determine which parts the business will pursue. The estimator will collaborate closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and account management to ensure quotes are competitive, accurate, and operationally achievable. This work is fully on‑site to stay aligned with the shop floor, validate machining assumptions when needed, and support a smooth handoff when quotes are awarded.

Required Skills & Experience
• 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment, such as manufacturing engineering, process engineering
• Strong understanding of manufacturing and machining processes (e.g., milling, turning, CNC workflows)
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to evaluate geometry, tolerances, materials, and overall manufacturability
• Solid understanding of the end‑to‑end manufacturing lifecycle, from RFQ review through process planning and production handoff
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; able to work closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and commercial teams
• Comfort working in Excel and ERP systems to support quoting, analysis, and documentation
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Aerospace manufacturing experience or exposure to major OEM standards (Pratt & Whitney, GE, Raytheon, etc.)
• Prior experience with cost estimating, quoting, or process planning
• Background in regulated or high‑precision manufacturing environments
• Exposure to Lean, Kaizen, or continuous improvement methodologies
