Job Description

A banking employer is looking for a ServiceNow Discovery & Development Engineer to join their team. The preference is for this candidate to be local to Connecticut, however this can be remote for the right resource. This role is responsible for implementing and troubleshooting ServiceNow Discovery across both on-premises and cloud environments (e.g., Azure), ensuring high-quality CMDB data, and supporting development efforts across the ServiceNow platform. The ideal candidate will play a key role in enabling automated visibility into infrastructure and applications, while building robust, scalable solutions aligned with business objectives. Responsibilities include configuring MID Servers, managing credentials and IP ranges, analyzing Discovery patterns and probes for accurate CI population, and maintaining Discovery schedules. The engineer will also develop and maintain ServiceNow applications using tools such as Flow Designer, Business Rules, Script Includes, and REST/SOAP integrations. Collaboration with infrastructure, security, and application teams is essential to identify gaps and enhance Discovery coverage. Additional duties include resolving CMDB data quality issues, integrating third-party tools like Tenable, Azure, and SolarWinds, and documenting technical implementations while providing knowledge transfer and training to internal teams.

Required Skills & Experience

7+ years of experience with ServiceNow Discovery and CMDB, including configuration, troubleshooting, and development
Proficiency in ServiceNow development using JavaScript, Scripted REST APIs, and Catalog Items, with knowledge of ITOM best practices and CSDM
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across infrastructure, security, and application teams

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

ServiceNow CSA certification required; additional certifications in Discovery or CMDB are a plus
Experience configuring MID Servers, working with secured networks and firewall rules, and familiarity with SNMP, WMI, and SSH protocols
Preferred experience with ITOM Visibility, Service Mapping, Event Management, scripting in PowerShell or Python, and exposure to CI/CD and agile methodologies
