Job Description
A healthcare insurance provider is looking for a Mainframe Developer to join their team remotely. The IBM Mainframe Developer will support multiple initiatives within a large internal data application as the organization transitions from a distributed mainframe environment to the GCP cloud. This role involves working with legacy mainframe components and contributing to the migration from UNIX on the mainframe to AIX DB2. A key responsibility includes analyzing and consolidating data dispersed across 20+ servers—where millions of rows are currently duplicated—by extracting data, removing redundancies, generating flat files, and reloading optimized database tables. The developer will partner closely with the team that manages data exchange across enterprise data lakes and upgraded applications, ensuring accuracy, performance, and reliability throughout the ecosystem. While mainframe expertise is essential, the position also offers opportunities to work with modern technologies such as Python and SQL as part of the broader application modernization and data engineering efforts.

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience as a Mainframe Developer or related role
Expertise with Unix, DB2, AIX, SAS, Cobol
Previously worked on a mainframe migration effort
Previously worked on additional projects using newer technologies such as Python and SQL
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Cloud expertise, preferably GCP
Previous healthcare experience
