Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Infrastructure Architect with expertise in Private Cloud environments to work remotely. This role will focus on designing, building, and scaling private cloud solutions to meet our enterprise's compute, network, storage, and security needs. You will drive innovation, efficiency, and agility in our core infrastructure to support business-critical applications and services.
Our client has made the decision to design and build an entirely new private cloud environment from scratch. This is not a modernization or transformation but a new build initiative. The primary private cloud technologies we are using are Openstack and Openshift. We are looking for a Principal level Architect Leadership level Architect to lead this initiative from an architecture perspective

Key Responsibilities
Private Cloud Strategy & Architecture
o Lead the design and development of private cloud infrastructure solutions to improve scalability, performance, and operational efficiency.
o Develop a long-term strategy for private cloud adoption, including on-premise infrastructure and hybrid cloud integration.
o Ensure infrastructure aligns with business objectives, leveraging industry best practices and emerging technologies.
o Establish private cloud standards, governance, and operational models for consistent delivery.
Compute Infrastructure Private Cloud
o Architect virtualized compute solutions leveraging technologies like VMware vSphere, Nutanix, or OpenStack.
o Optimize private cloud compute resources for reliability, performance, and scalability.
o Integrate high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) strategies into compute designs.
Private Cloud Networking
o Design and implement SDN (Software Defined Networking) solutions to enable flexible, programmable network architectures.
o Develop overlay and underlay networking strategies to enhance private cloud connectivity.
o Implement hybrid network solutions to securely integrate on-premises private cloud with public cloud platforms.
Storage Infrastructure in Private Cloud
o Architect private cloud storage solutions, including software-defined storage (SDS), to optimize performance and redundancy.
o Design scalable backup, recovery, and data protection solutions.
o Ensure compliance with enterprise storage policies and disaster recovery requirements.
Private Cloud Security
o Define and implement private cloud security controls, including segmentation, firewalls, micro-segmentation, and intrusion detection/prevention.
o Enforce identity and access management (IAM) policies for private cloud resources.
o Ensure regulatory compliance (HIPAA, PCI DSS) within private cloud infrastructure.
Automation & Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
o Leverage IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet) to automate private cloud infrastructure provisioning and configuration.
o Promote self-service capabilities for infrastructure resources through automation and orchestration.
o Drive infrastructure lifecycle automation for monitoring, scaling, and patching.
Monitoring & Observability
o Implement advanced monitoring and observability tools to gain insights into private cloud infrastructure performance.
o Develop frameworks for predictive monitoring, log analysis, and capacity planning.
Collaboration & Leadership
o Collaborate with enterprise architecture, operations, and application teams to deliver private cloud solutions that align with business goals.
o Mentor infrastructure teams and provide technical leadership on private cloud best practices.
o Advocate for continuous improvement in private cloud capabilities and processes.
