Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Mechanical Engineer III for a leading manufacturing client. This individual will serve as a technical expert in structural and thermal analysis, supporting the design, development, validation, and optimization of new and existing products. The engineer will leverage simulation tools, analytical methods, and testing to evaluate product performance, validate designs, and drive engineering improvements. This role requires strong cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Electrical, Test Engineering, and Quality teams while providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Perform structural and thermal analyses to support product design and development efforts
- Utilize FEA, CFD, and classical engineering methods to evaluate product performance and ensure design requirements are met
- Develop and execute analytical models for stress, vibration, fatigue, heat transfer, and fluid dynamics assessments
- Partner with test engineers to design validation plans, conduct testing, and correlate analytical predictions with physical test results
- Create technical documentation and present findings to engineering teams, leadership, and external stakeholders
- Develop and standardize structural and thermal analysis methodologies across the engineering organization
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Electrical Engineering, Test Engineering, and Quality teams to resolve complex technical challenges
- Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers while driving project deliverables independently

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
- 8+ years of experience with a BS degree OR 5+ years with a Master's degree
- Strong experience with structural analysis and thermal analysis methodologies
- Hands-on experience with FEA tools, including stress, deflection, vibration, fatigue, and kinematic analyses
- Experience with SolidWorks Simulation and/or SolidWorks Flow Simulation (CFD)
- Proficiency using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for analytical modeling, data acquisition, and post-processing
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience performing thermal simulations including heat transfer and fluid flow analyses
- Background in test-model correlation and validation testing
Knowledge of fracture mechanics, low-cycle fatigue (LCF), and high-cycle fatigue (HCF) analysis
- Experience working with PDM and PLM systems and engineering change processes
- Strong understanding of materials selection and manufacturing processes
- Experience with AutoCAD or other 3D CAD design platforms
