Job Description

An Engineering client is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of new aviation products and enhancements to existing systems. This role owns the engineering process from concept initiation through assembly, testing, and validation, leveraging strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and an ongoing commitment to technical growth.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design and development of multiple project components or complex subsystems
• Operate as a fully independent engineering professional
• Validate product capabilities through feasibility studies, testing methods, and analysis
• Collaborate with Engineers and technical personnel to establish procedures, resolve issues, and share technical insights
• Analyze design proposals, specifications, manuals, and engineering data to assess feasibility, cost, and maintainability
• Support prototype and pre‑production manufacturing efforts
• Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and QA to resolve engineering issues, documentation needs, and BOM updates
• Ensure design compliance with RTCA DO‑160 environmental and test standards
• Support and coordinate FAA certification activities for FAR Parts 23, 25, 27, and 29
• Interface with DERs, FAA representatives, and certification authorities during reviews and compliance demonstrations

Required Skills & Experience

• BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field with 8+ years of experience, or MS with 5–6+ years
• Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes
• Proficient with SolidWorks®, AutoCAD®, and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience supporting prototype and pre‑production manufacturing
Familiarity with feasibility analysis, testing methods, and product capability validation
Cross-functional collaboration experience with Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and QA
Understanding of aviation-specific environmental and compliance requirements
Experience with PDM/PLM systems
Experience with component design using injection molding, die casting, machining, vacuum forming, and sheet‑metal fabrication (preferred)
