Job Description

Our client is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to join its growing accounting team. This is a newly created position driven by company growth and internal promotion opportunities. The ideal candidate will have strong general ledger and month-end close experience, a deep understanding of accounting fundamentals, and the ability to independently investigate and resolve complex accounting issues.
This role is best suited for a self-starter who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and is comfortable taking ownership of accounting processes while partnering across the business to ensure financial accuracy and integrity.


Key Responsibilities
General Ledger & Month-End Close
• Maintain the integrity of the general ledger and trial balance.
• Execute month-end close activities, including:
o Fixed assets
o Prepaids
o Accruals
o Journal entries
o Account reconciliations
• Prepare and post adjusting entries, reclasses, and other accounting transactions.
• Analyze account activity and investigate discrepancies or unusual variances.
• Ensure timely, complete, and accurate monthly financial reporting.
Accounting Research & Analysis
• Investigate historical accounting transactions and trace activity through the books.
• Research and resolve complex accounting issues with minimal supervision.
• Identify missing, incorrect, or incomplete accounting entries through a logical, detail-oriented approach.
• Support accounting leadership with financial analysis and special projects.
Fixed Assets & Cost Accounting
• Manage fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
• Support accounting related to cost of goods sold (COGS).
• Ensure proper accounting treatment and compliance with company policies.
Systems & Process Improvement
• Utilize NetSuite to manage accounting activities and reporting.
• Maintain asset schedules through NetSuite Fixed Asset Manager, when applicable.
• Recommend and implement improvements to accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
• Support ongoing system enhancements and workflow optimization initiatives.
Collaboration & Team Support
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues.
• Adapt to changing priorities in a growing organization.
• Assist with ad hoc reporting, audits, and special accounting projects.

This role is local to Longmont, Colorado. It will start as hybrid onsite but then able to scale down to a couple days per month as training concludes. This is a 6 month contract to hire with intent to convert upon performance.

This role is offering 52.75- 59.50 an hour.

Required Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 3-9+ years of progressive accounting experience, depending on company size and complexity.
• Strong experience with:
o General ledger accounting
o Month-end close
o Account reconciliations
o Accrual accounting
o Fixed assets
o Journal entries
o Trial balance management
• Demonstrated ability to research, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Strong understanding of debits, credits, and financial statement impacts.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• ERP experience, preferably NetSuite.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• CPA or actively pursuing CPA certification.
• NetSuite experience, including NetSuite Fixed Asset Manager.
• Experience within a high-growth or mid-market organization.
• Experience supporting multiple accounting functions beyond AR/AP.
• Prior exposure to less-siloed accounting environments where broad ownership is required.
