A small company located in Longmont, CO is looking for a strong Senior PCB Layout Engineer. This company specializes in developing high‑assurance space electronics by adapting cutting‑edge commercial technologies including electronics, photonics, robotics, and software for reliable operation in the space environment. We are seeking an experienced PCB Layout Engineer to design and release complex, high‑reliability electronic assemblies for civil, DoD, and commercial space applications. In this role, you will perform advanced PCB layout for high‑speed digital, mixed‑signal, and power electronics designs, including multi‑lamination boards up to 24+ layers, in compliance with IPC‑6012 and related standards. You will translate schematics, stackups, and design constraints into manufacturable layouts while executing controlled impedance routing, differential pairs, length matching, and via optimization. The position requires close collaboration with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers to address signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and enclosure integration. You will support DFM/DFA reviews, generate complete manufacturing release packages, and contribute to design reviews with layout‑specific risk assessments.
This role is set for a 9 month contract to hire looking to pay anywhere from 68.96/hr to 86.20/hr while on contract with a similar compensation package upon conversion. While on contract candidates will be expected to be on-site 1-3 days a week based on needs from the business and day to day responsibilities. Required Skills & Experience
• 8 + years of experience as a PCB layout engineer on complex designs
• Experience with high layer PCB layouts (16 or higher)
• Strong working knowledge of IPC-6012 and related IPC standards
• Proficiency with one or more of the following - Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Xpedition
• Understanding of signal integrity and power integrity fundamentals, controlled impedance routing, and EMI/EMC mitigation techniques
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience in the aerospace, defense, space or other related fields
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9001 design environments
