Job Description
A leading aerospace and defense client is seeking a Sr. Space Systems Engineer to support the design, integration, and verification of advanced satellite constellations and their associated ground and launch systems. Day-to-day, this person will lead and contribute to system and subsystem design efforts, ensuring requirements are properly defined, decomposed, and validated across the architecture. They will work closely with customers to support CONOPS development, mission architecture definition, and requirements derivation while also driving development of key systems engineering artifacts including system architecture, requirements, interface control documents, and trade studies. This role will collaborate across engineering teams to support integration and test activities, ensuring alignment across space, ground, and launch segments. The engineer will apply both traditional and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches, contribute to technical documentation and presentations, and help resolve complex engineering challenges while supporting overall program execution and system delivery. Required Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Engineering or related technical discipline
10–12+ years of systems engineering experience
Direct experience in space domain and satellite/space segment design (required)
Strong experience in systems engineering principles: Requirements development, Verification & validation, Interface management
Experience working across system lifecycle (design → integration → test)
Experience developing systems engineering artifacts: CONOPS, System architecture, Requirements & ICDs, Mission/system analysis, Trade studies
Experience working in cross-functional engineering teams (space, ground, launch)
Strong communication skills with ability to interface with customers and internal teams
Active Top Secret clearance
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
TS/SCI clearance
Experience supporting customer-facing engineering efforts (CONOPS, mission shaping, architecture)
Familiarity with tools: Cameo / MagicDraw, DOORS, STK, Atlassian (Jira, Confluence)
Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
Exposure to design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)
Experience supporting new business or internal R&D efforts
