Job Description

A large Telecommunications client is seeking a Systems Security Engineer with expertise in Red Hat-based Linux systems, infrastructure security, and automation. This role involves managing and maintaining Linux environments using tools like RHEL, vSphere, and OpenStack; applying security patches in response to CVEs using Ansible; and automating remediation tasks with Python, PowerShell, or Bash. The engineer will support AWS and internal CaaS platforms, troubleshoot Kubernetes clusters, resolve network connectivity issues using diagnostic tools, and manage firewall and infrastructure tickets. Collaboration with security, networking, and application teams is essential, along with documenting procedures and contributing to continuous improvement efforts.

Pay Range: $40-50 / hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Required Skills & Experience

510 years in Linux systems administration with a focus on security and automation.

Proficiency with Red Hat Linux and related distributions.

Experience executing Ansible playbooks for configuration management and patching.

Familiarity with Kubernetes, AWS, and containerized environments.

Strong scripting skills in Python, PowerShell, or Bash.

Understanding of CVE lifecycle and patch management processes.

Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to automation.

Hands-on experience with vSphere, OpenStack, and network diagnostic tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, netstat, tcpdump).

Exposure to firewall management systems and ticketing platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Certifications such as RHCSA, RHCE, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, or similar.

Familiarity with SIEM tools, vulnerability scanners, and compliance frameworks (e.g., NIST, CIS).

Experience in large-scale enterprise or hybrid cloud environments.
