Job Description

As a systems engineer, your day-to-day work involves managing and maintaining platform infrastructure to ensure consistent system availability, connectivity, and access. Youll work closely with development, testing, and operations teams to support their technical needs and ensure smooth integration across environments. A significant part of your role includes administering Linux systems and managing virtual environments using VMware technologies. You'll be responsible for applying security patches, addressing vulnerabilities, and conducting regular system scans to maintain a secure infrastructure. Automation is a key focus, and you'll use tools like Ansible, Python, and Terraform to streamline repetitive tasks and improve operational efficiency. Youll also evaluate existing systems and processes, identifying opportunities for optimization or modernization. Collaboration is essential, as youll engage with engineers of varying experience levels to troubleshoot issues and implement solutions. Documentation and knowledge sharing are part of your routine to support ongoing improvements and maintain system reliability.

Pay Range: $30-43 / hr

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.

Required Skills & Experience

2-5 years of experience as a System Administrator or System Engineer

Professional experience working in a Linux environment

Hands-on experience with VMware (ESXi, vSphere), including managing user roles, permissions, and access controls within virtualized environments

Python (or related) scripting

Knowledge of networking fundamentals

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Telecommunications / Cable industry experience


Automation experience with Ansible, Python, or Terraform

Security tools (CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Qualys)

CI/CD tools or understanding of best practices
