Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator (Utilities & Civil) to join our team in Denver, CO. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for utility and civil construction projects, supporting successful bids, and partnering with cross‑functional teams to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and profitably. The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise, local Colorado market experience, and a proven track record of winning work within the utilities and civil construction space. This role pays up to $150k annually depending on relevant experience.

Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for utilities and civil construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead.
• Analyze project plans, specifications, scopes of work, and contract documents to identify risks, opportunities, and cost drivers.
• Collaborate closely with project managers, procurement teams, and operations to align estimates with execution strategies and company standards.
• Review RFPs and proposals, develop competitive bid strategies, and support proposal submissions.
• Participate in pre‑construction planning, value engineering, and budgeting efforts to align project costs with client expectations.
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor pricing and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and trade partners.
• Track historical project data and contribute to improving accuracy, efficiency, and win‑rate performance.
Ensure all estimates comply with local, state, and national construction codes, regulations, and safety standards.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in utilities and/or civil construction (10+ years preferred).
• Proven experience estimating projects within utilities, water/wastewater, and civil infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of civil and utility construction means, methods, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret complex plans, technical drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Proficiency with estimating software and tools, along with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Demonstrated ability to develop detailed budgets and analyze project requirements with a high level of accuracy.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and attention‑to‑detail skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams.
• Familiarity with local and national construction codes, regulations, and safety standards.
• Local Colorado experience within the utility and civil construction industry.
• Proven track record of increasing quarterly and annual win rates.
Existing, well‑established relationships with clients, vendors, and subcontractors.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Experience supporting large‑scale or complex infrastructure projects in the Denver or broader Colorado market.
