Job Description
A large telecommunication company is looking to bring on a OSI Network Engineer for a 12-month contract to hire with 5 days a week requirement. This role participates in network planning, architecture design, and engineering, integrating and schematically depicting communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission methods, signaling links, and protocols into complete network configurations. The position evaluates new products, resolves network issues, and assists in the development and documentation of technical standards while developing and implementing approved methods of procedure. Responsibilities include designing and establishing protocol compatibility standards, implementing network enhancements, and making recommendations for continuous improvement. The role supports projects and systems of medium to high complexity related to network planning, configuration, and optimization, provides escalated tier support across internal organizations and third-party vendors, and contributes as a project team member, occasionally serving as a project lead. Additionally, the role coaches less experienced staff, ensures compliance with applicable industry, local, state, and federal regulations, follows company policies, and performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor. Targeting $50 an hour pay rate!

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in network engineering with extensive field and laboratory testing exposure
Hands-on experience testing and validating networking and test equipment from vendors including Cisco, Juniper, Keysight, Rohde & Schwarz, and Cooper Mountain
Advanced knowledge of data networking concepts, including OSI layers, TCP/IP, and optical transport technologies
In-depth understanding of IEEE and ANSI standards and enterprise/service provider networking technologies, including fiber infrastructure, switching, routing, Ethernet, and transport protocols
Strong root cause analysis skills with thorough documentation of findings and resolutions
