Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a remote Electrical Substation Engineer to support in executing a large, multi-year compliance and modernization effort that supports facility/line ratings program for transmission lines, substations, and transformer assets. The program includes installing multiple vendor platforms and upgrading/developing in-house applications to support rating calculations and compliance activities tied to FERC Order 881 and related NERC standards. This role will work across architecture, development, and testing—building test plans, validating backend data flows, and partnering closely with engineering, IT, vendors, and consultants to deliver reliable, auditable systems at scale.

Required Skills & Experience

8-10+ years of experience
Background in Electrical, Software, Substation, Transmission and/or EMS Engineering
Strong understanding of data flows and system-to-system dependencies
SQL, Python and/or PowerShell experience for Data Validation & Reporting
Coding knowledge
Experience supporting large-scale software deployments and post-implementation sustainment.
Experience in the Utility/Energy sector

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with OATI, GE Vernova, or similar utility software platforms
Experience testing compliance-driven or regulated systems
Exposure to APIs, data pipelines, or ETL processes
Electrical engineering degree or experience working with power system engineers
