Job Description

A major defense contractor is seeking a qualified and experienced RF Engineer/Systems Engineer/Hardware Engineer to provide engineering analysis, baseline management, operations and maintenance, system enhancement, and integration support onsite at Buckley Space Force Base. This position will be with the engineering team (20-person team) and responsible for ensuring successful operation, maintenance, and sustainment of the hardware associated with a complex high priority operational communications system. This is a small engineering team, and we are looking for an individual who enjoys a challenge and is willing to learn and grow within a multi-disciplined contract.
Responsibilities include:
- establishing requirements for new system hardware enhancements
- supporting efforts for new capabilities
- development and refinement of operational/engineering processes and procedures.
Technical skills needed:
- troubleshoot, document, and resolve system outages and other issues that may be encountered during operation of the system.
- collection of diagnostic data
- accurately documenting problems in logging and discrepancy reporting tools
- restoring system operation
- development of workarounds and other activities necessary for recovery of the system.
The Systems/Hardware Engineer will provide support to include:
- storage, retrieval, and manipulation of data for analysis and troubleshooting of system capabilities and requirements
- utilize analytic devices such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes and logic analyzers for troubleshooting
- monitor functioning of equipment and make necessary modifications to ensure the system operates in conformance with specifications
- support the generation of concept of operations (CONOP) and provide recommendations for system architecture.

Required Skills & Experience

- Active TS/SCI with CI polygraph required prior to start date
- Years of Experience Required: 4
- Prior experience supporting Operations and Maintenance (O&M) ground systems engineering activities for a satellite communications system.
- Experience generating, analyzing, tracking, and managing requirements.
- Experience with systems engineering developing and maintaining schematics, analysis, block diagrams, system Bill of Materials (BOMs), and design review packages.
- Must be able to support occasional travel (both CONUS and OCONUS) and emergency repair trips.
- Must be able to provide occasional after-hour call-in support.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Education Level: Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
- Influence design performance & cost trade-off studies for proposed engineering changes.
- Contribute effectively to design teams and provide technical insight to the team members.
- Apply previous knowledge and experience to provide recommendations for development of new operational concepts, architecture, and to increase efficiencies within the existing system.
- Support design performance & cost trade-off studies for proposed engineering changes.
- Proficient use of Spectrum Analyzers, Network Analyzers, Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes.
- Experience working with vendors for the timely repair and tracking of critical operational hardware.
- Experience upgrading hardware supported by Windows and Linux based systems.
- Previous experience working with systems supported by Linux operating systems.
- Highly articulate with strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Technical ability to identify and document system related capability enhancements through generation and submittal of White Papers and other submittals.
