Position Overview
Leidos is seeking an experienced Engineering Program Manager (EPM) to provide short term execution support for active non recurring engineering programs during a planned medical leave. This role is highly execution focused and responsible for driving schedules, managing program risk, and ensuring delivery of established programs already in progress.
The EPM will work closely with engineering, software, technical, manufacturing, and PMO stakeholders to manage backlog driven work using Agile tools and processes. This position is internal facing only and does not include direct customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Program Execution and Schedule Management
Drive program execution using existing backlogs in Azure DevOps
Manage and maintain program schedules to ensure delivery milestones are met
Actively track work, dependencies, and progress using Agile methodologies
Escalate schedule risks or potential delays to the Program Director (Robert) or functional leadership as needed
Step into programs that are already underway and ensure continuity through execution
Agile and Backlog Management
Work within Agile frameworks using Jira and Azure DevOps
Drive work off the backlog and support prioritization to meet program objectives
Coordinate across engineering, software, and technical teams to maintain momentum
Risk and Issue Management
Identify, assess, and actively manage program risks and issues
Develop mitigation strategies and drive resolution across cross functional teams
Provide proactive escalation when risks threaten schedule or execution commitments
Reporting and Program Visibility
Provide routine program status reporting focused on execution health, risks, and schedules
Support leadership with clear and concise updates on program progress
Maintain transparency across teams and leadership
Cost Awareness and Coordination
No direct financial ownership or budget planning responsibilities
Maintain general awareness of project costs and potential spend impacts
Coordinate with the Program Director regarding non labor costs or parts ordering
Support execution of programs typically ranging from $500K to $600K in value
Cross Functional Team Leadership
Collaborate with a cross functional team of approximately five team members
Work directly with Product Line Management, Engineering, Services, Manufacturing, and PMO
Lead program meetings, technical discussions, and internal reviews as needed
Communicate technical challenges and risks clearly to both technical and non technical audiences

Required Skills & Experience
7 to 9 years of experience in program or project management roles
Prior experience managing engineering programs involving both hardware and software development
Strong execution mindset with hands on schedule and risk management experience
Proven experience using Agile methodologies
Required experience with Jira
Experience using Azure DevOps for backlog and execution management
Broad engineering background with ability to work across hardware, software, electrical, and mechanical disciplines
Strong planning and organizational skills including requirements definition, documentation, and testing support
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Highly motivated, resourceful, and solution oriented
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field
Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Degree in a technical or engineering discipline
Experience with industrial machinery, installation, or testing environments
Experience supporting non recurring engineering programs
