Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and technically proficient Engineering Manager who thrives in a hands-on mechanical and machinery engineering environment while leading and mentoring a growing team. This role requires a dynamic leader who can guide, inspire, and develop a department of three engineerstwo junior and one seniorwhile actively contributing to day-to-day engineering challenges and design.

Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the engineering department, fostering a positive and growth-oriented environment.
Provide hands-on technical expertise in machinery and mechanical engineering while overseeing projects from conception to completion.
Mentor and guide junior and senior engineers, offering strategic direction and problem-solving support.
Design and oversee the development of heavy machinery, ensuring structural integrity and efficiency.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, operations, and leadership, to drive engineering excellence.
Conduct detailed calculations for movements, motor sizing, and strength of materials.
Review and refine machine designs with an emphasis on performance, reliability, and innovation.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

Onsite role M-F in Linden, California

Senior level experience in machine shop operations or custom machine design and build.
Strong background in heavy machinery design and engineering senior level experience required.
In-depth understanding of power transmission, bearing belts, chains, and electric motors.
Hands-on experience with hydraulics and pneumatics.
Knowledge of machine control, electrical systems, PLCs (Siemens, etc.) and motion control.
Expertise in engineering calculations, particularly movements and motor sizing.
Strong academic foundation in mechanics, dynamics, and material strength calculations.
Engineering or physics background ensuring proper machine design principles.
