Job Description
IG Consulting is looking to build out a team in support of our largest utility client. We are supporting a critical data initiative focused on strengthening and scaling SQL Server-based architecture that supports audit and inspection data workflows. This role sits at the center of the data pipeline—bridging data ingestion from ArcGIS systems and preparing it for downstream reporting and Foundry platforms.
The team is responsible for designing, building, and optimizing the SQL Server database layer to ensure data Project Phases
Phase 1 - Test Environment Stand-Up Standing up a test environment across all existing audit programs and as new programs launch. We're still determining which tool this will ultimately take place in (SQL vs. Foundry).
Phase 2 - Production Backup Stand-Up Standing up a production backup across all existing audit programs currently executing within Foundry code workbooks and Python code repos. This will require a developer to analyze current state production code logic and mimic it within SQL. The challenge and expertise here is that the code language between production logic in Foundry is not a simple "copy and paste" into SQL… the developer will need to translate Python scripts into SQL.
Domain Ownership
Database (Martina): Owns reporting transformations.
Data Architecture (Andrew): Owns data validation transformations.
Database transformations and overall data modeling will be slightly more complex / time consuming than Data Architecture. Nonetheless, each will require the same core skillset in advanced SQL and Python.
Ongoing Responsibilities
Once each project phase is stood up, the developer will be responsible for maintaining the code logic over time as we enhance our products or receive new product requirements from the business. One area where I could see the role evolve is to assist or actively participate in QA testing of critical product paths… but we're not there yet.
integrity, scalability, and reliability across the ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and build SQL Server database architecture to support large-scale survey and inspection data
• Create and manage relational data models (multiple tables, relationships, joins)
• Develop solutions to ingest, structure, and validate data coming from ArcGIS/ESRI systems
• Build and maintain a secondary data source to mitigate risk and ensure continuity
• Prepare structured datasets for downstream ingestion into Foundry and reporting teams
• Collaborate with upstream (data collection) and downstream (reporting/data architecture) teams
• Ensure performance, scalability, and reliability of the database layer
