Job Description
A lead defense contractor, that creates and manufactures drones, located in Simi Valley, CA is looking to hire a Senior Software Engineering Manager. This person will be working fully onsite at their office Monday-Friday. The day to day duties of this role comprise of leading embedded software development for STM32-based systems, including board bring-up, BSP development, pin mapping, and low-level driver implementation (I2C, SPI, CAN, RS-232/485, USB). This person will be required to provide leadership and mentorship to others as a manager. This role is paying between$140,000-$194,040/year depending on years of experience. Additional responsibilities below:
Troubleshoot complex hardware/software integration issues, diagnosing signal, timing, electrical, RTOS, and driver-level problems.
Architect embedded systems from concept through production, defining processor, memory, and performance requirements.
Translate high-level program requirements into scalable technical solutions and support design reviews, documentation, and customer presentations.
Manage and execute multiple concurrent projects with minimal oversight, including task planning, technical leadership, and status reporting.
Mentor junior engineers and provide architectural guidance across multidisciplinary teams.
Support transition to production, certification activities, and field/flight testing as needed.

Required Skills & Experience
12–15+ years of experience in C++ embedded software development experience; minimum of 5+ years of experience in STM32, 10+years of experience in pin-outs and setting up board support packages
Extensive hands-on experience with STM32 microcontrollers and board bring-up (BSP development, pin mapping, hardware configuration).
Deep understanding of Real-Time Operating Systems, including scheduling, interrupts, and concurrency.
Experience developing and debugging low-level drivers and working with common communication protocols (I2C, SPI, CAN, RS-232/485, USB).
Proven ability to troubleshoot hardware/software integration issues using lab equipment.
Experience leading technical projects, mentoring engineers, and working cross-functionally.
Familiarity with embedded Linux, ARM platforms, automated build/test environments, and configuration management tools (preferred).
