Job Description

The Privacy Counsel is a key legal advisor responsible for guiding our company through an evolving U.S. privacy landscape. This role partners closely with cross‑functional teams to embed privacy into products, partnerships, and operations while managing regulatory risk, vendor relationships, and contractual privacy obligations.

- Review, draft, and negotiate privacy and data security provisions in commercial contracts, including data processing agreements (DPAs) and vendor data protection terms
- Provide ongoing legal guidance to business, product, engineering, marketing, and ads teams on U.S. privacy laws and compliance requirements
- Advise on data processing activities, including vendor onboarding, assessments, and privacy risk management
- Monitor, interpret, and communicate developments in U.S. privacy laws and regulations, including new and emerging state privacy statutes
- Lead updates to privacy‑related policies, procedures, and internal compliance work plans to align with evolving regulatory requirements
- Partner cross‑functionally to ensure privacy‑by‑design principles are embedded into product development and business initiatives
- Support the broader Privacy Program, including risk assessments, compliance initiatives, and mitigation strategies

Required Skills & Experience

- Juris Doctor (JD) and active admission to at least one U.S. state bar
- 3–4+ years of relevant experience in data privacy law (in‑house and/or law firm)
- Strong knowledge of U.S. privacy and marketing laws, including CCPA/CPRA, TCPA, CAN‑SPAM, and emerging state privacy regulations
- Experience advising on product and business initiatives from a data privacy perspective
- Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating data protection agreements and privacy‑related contractual provisions
- Ability to work cross‑functionally and translate legal requirements into practical, business‑friendly guidance

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Experience in the healthcare or direct‑to‑consumer healthcare space
- Familiarity with advertising, marketing, and data‑driven business models
- Experience supporting or scaling a privacy program in a fast‑growing organization
