Position Overview
Join a leading semiconductor innovator at the forefront of cloud-scale networking and data infrastructure. As a Principal Field Application Engineer specializing in System Solutions and Architecture, youll play a pivotal role in bridging advanced connectivity technologies with the real-world needs of hyperscale cloud providers. This is a high-impact, customer-facing engineering role that blends deep technical knowledge with strategic engagement to drive adoption of next-generation optical and electrical interconnect solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership: Serve as the go-to expert on high-speed interconnect technologies, including optical and coherent DSPs, retimers, and signal integrity. Guide customers through the integration of these components into modules and cables for hyperscale environments.
Customer Collaboration: Cultivate strong technical partnerships with cloud infrastructure leaders. Understand their deployment challenges and align solutions to meet performance and scalability goals.
System-Level Architecture: Provide architectural guidance on how the company's silicon enables differentiated performance in optical modules and AECs. Support design-in efforts and influence customer roadmaps.
Product Enablement: Stay current on internal connectivity portfolio and roadmap. Offer insights on product selection, integration strategies, and interoperability.
Training & Documentation: Deliver technical briefings, hands-on demonstrations, and create detailed collateral such as application notes and integration guides.
Market Intelligence: Monitor industry trends, standards, and competitive developments to inform internal product strategy and customer engagement.

Required Skills & Experience

Required Experience
Bachelors degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 8 years in system-level engineering roles within networking, optics, or cloud infrastructure.
At least 3 years in a customer-facing technical role such as FAE or Solutions Architect.
Strong understanding of optical transceivers (e.g., QSFP-DD, OSFP), retimers, and high-speed cable technologies (AECs, ACCs).
Proficiency in signal integrity, SerDes tuning, link training, and compliance testing for high-speed links (100G/200G/400G/800G+).
Hands-on experience with lab tools such as BERTs, oscilloscopes, and protocol analyzers.
Solid grasp of semiconductor technologies and system-level integration.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Preferred Qualifications
10+ years of relevant industry experience.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; ability to build trust with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience with scripting (e.g., Python) for automation or testing.
Familiarity with industry standards (IEEE 802.3, OIF, CMIS, etc.).
Background in companies such as Broadcom, Nvidia, TE Connectivity, Molex, or optics/cable manufacturers.
Bonus consideration for candidates coming from hyperscalers like Google, Meta, Microsoft, Oracle, or Amazon.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and cross-functionally across engineering, sales, and marketing teams.
Willingness to travel, primarily within the West Coast region.
