Job Description

A leading enterprise client is looking to hire a Senior Detection Engineer to join their Information Security team. This individual will serve as a vital member of the Security Operations Center (SOC), taking ownership of the design, validation, and automation of detection content across various environments. The role involves working with a range of tools throughout the detection engineering lifecycle and is instrumental in advancing the organizations detection maturity. Collaboration is key, as this engineer will partner with teams across the company to ensure comprehensive detection coverage, reliable deployment systems, ongoing validation, and robust quality metrics. This is a direct hire, fully remote position, with quarterly travel required to the companys headquarters in Orange County, CA.

Required Skills & Experience

Expertise in detection content development (e.g., SPL, KQL) and scripting (Python, Bash).
Strong knowledge of network protocols, firewalls, IDS, endpoint security, and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK, Sigma rules, and security analytics best practices.
Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and detection testing labs.
Excellent analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects.
5+ years in detection engineering, security automation, or SOC engineering.
Bachelors degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Splunk Admin, GCDA, GCIA, CISSP, OSCP).
Understanding of threat modeling (e.g., STRIDE) for detection design.
