Job Description

Evergreen is looking for a Biologist to support the Short Cycle and Vegetation Management Environmental Management team supporting regular operation and maintenance activities as required to maintain safe and reliable gas and electric service in compliance with environmental laws and best management practices. This includes both infrastructure replacement and repair and regular vegetation management to improve reliability and reduce wildfire risk.

Position Summary
The terrestrial biologist works as a member of an interdisciplinary environmental team to review pending projects for compliance with environmental laws, programmatic permits with state and federal agencies and recommends avoidance and minimization measures to avoid impacts to special status species and water resources. They also review contractor generated technical reports, monitoring reports, survey reports and other deliverables prior to submittal to regulatory agencies and provide guidance to our contractors regarding preparation of those reports. Depending on experience level, the successful candidate may also be involved in resolving incidences of non-compliance or regulatory notices of violation. The position is largely office based, but there are opportunities for field work including surveys, monitoring and site walks with line of business personnel as workload allows.

Required Skills & Experience

Qualified candidates have a Bachelors degree in Biology, Wildlife Science, Environmental Science or other related field.
5+ years of experience in wildlife biology or botany
Working knowledge of the Federal ESA and the CESA and state and federal waterway and wetland regulations
Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
