Job Description
A client in the electrical construction space specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure is expanding their team and looking to hire an Electrical Estimator. This individual will support Project Managers throughout the full estimating and bid process, including reviewing plans and specifications, performing detailed electrical takeoffs, and developing accurate cost estimates for complex infrastructure projects. The role requires experience in water/wastewater or heavy civil construction, strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, and the ability to collaborate with subcontractors and suppliers to drive competitive and comprehensive bids. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically strong in industrial electrical systems, and thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
Duties & Responsibilities Include:
• Assist Project Managers with all phases of the estimating and bid process from initial review through final submission
• Perform detailed electrical takeoffs using project specifications, one-line diagrams, P&IDs, control schematics, and site plans
• Quantify materials and labor for systems including medium/low voltage distribution, MCCs, VFDs, PLCs, instrumentation, and control wiring
• Develop accurate cost estimates including labor productivity factors and material pricing
• Solicit and negotiate pricing from subcontractors and suppliers to build competitive bids
• Evaluate drawings and specifications to ensure complete scope coverage for electrical components
• Identify and account for general and special conditions in project cost estimates
• Support development of project budgets and schedules based on estimate outputs
• Apply productivity factors for complex project conditions such as confined spaces, phased shutdowns, and accelerated timelines
• Build and maintain relationships with general contractors, clients, and vendors throughout the bidding process

Required Skills & Experience
• 5+ years of electrical estimating experience within water/wastewater or heavy civil construction
• Experience performing detailed electrical takeoffs from:
• Plans, specifications, one-line diagrams, P&IDs, control schematics
• MCC/VFD schedules, lighting & site plans, network/riser diagrams
• Strong knowledge of:
• Medium/low voltage distribution systems, MCCs, VFDs, panels
• PLCs, instrumentation, control wiring, and process equipment
• Ability to quantify materials and labor (duct banks, raceways, equipment, etc.)
• Proven experience:
• Soliciting and negotiating subcontractor/vendor pricing
• Supporting full lifecycle of bid/estimate development
• Understanding of:
• Construction sequencing and multi-discipline coordination
• General & special conditions cost identification
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience in design-build or construction manager at risk (CMAR) projects
Familiarity with McCormick Estimating Software
Experience applying productivity factors for:
Confined spaces
Phased shutdowns / bypass pumping
Accelerated or compressed schedules
Experience building client and GC relationships
