Job Description

A client of Insight Global is looking for a Java Developer with extensive Big Data experience to join their data engineering team. The team is responsible for architecting, implementing, and supporting data storage and retrieval solutions for fraud-related customer data both on-prem and in the cloud. The team handles petabytes of data, stored in various databases. The team consists of two groups: one based in Sydney Australia, the other based in San Jose, CA. There are 17 members of the team, excluding operations support and QA resources. This role requires multithreaded Java development as well as knowledge of big data technologies like Snowflake and Kafka. The pay rate ranges based off years of experience between $55-65/hour. This role is only considering locally based Bay area candidates open to working 1X/week hybrid onsite in San Jose.

Required Skills & Experience

Proficiency in big data, with preference given to experience with Snowflake, Hadoop.
Good understanding of Kafka.
Advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile).
Strong proficiency with data manipulation language including optimization techniques.
Strong understanding of normalized/dimensional data modelling principles.
Strong knowledge of multiple data storage subsystems.
Expertise in development languages including but not limited to: Java/J2EE, SQL, GoLang.
Strong research skills.
Strong knowledge in industry best practices in development.
Knowledge in using and developing applicable tool sets.
Ability to interface competently with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements.
Ability to work well with internal and external technology resources.
Knowledge of test-driven development.
Ability to write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of complex system components.
Ability to complete complex bug fixes.
Good oral and written communications skills.
