About the Role
Our client is seeking a Head of Communications to lead and execute the company’s external narrative and media strategy across the U.S. and Europe.
This is a highly hands-on leadership role, requiring an established network of media and journalist relationships and the ability to directly engage press. This individual will serve as the primary driver of earned media, executive communications, and reputation management—while building a strong in-house communications function and reducing reliance on external PR agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Media Relations (U.S. & Europe)
• Own and expand relationships with top-tier technology, business, and AI media across key markets
• Proactively pitch and secure media coverage for company milestones, including product launches, partnerships, and funding
• Act as the primary point of contact for all inbound media inquiries, ensuring timely and strategic responses
• Maintain a comprehensive and evolving database of media contacts, editorial calendars, and coverage opportunities
In-House PR Development
• Transition core PR efforts from agency support to a scalable in-house model
• Define and manage the scope of external PR partners as supplemental resources
• Implement processes and tools for press outreach, content development, and coverage tracking
Executive & Leadership Positioning
• Elevate the visibility of senior leadership through media opportunities, speaking engagements, and thought leadership
• Prepare executives for media interactions, including messaging, briefings, and interview preparation
• Build and manage a strategic calendar of high-impact media opportunities and industry events
Content & Storytelling
• Develop and refine high-quality communications materials including press releases, op-eds, and executive statements
• Translate complex technical concepts in quantum computing and AI into clear, compelling narratives for broader audiences
• Ensure consistent messaging across all external communications channels
Cross-Functional Alignment & Crisis Communications
• Partner with Marketing, Product, Legal, and Commercial teams to align messaging ahead of key announcements
• Lead crisis communications efforts, ensuring rapid response and clear stakeholder communication
• Track and report on media coverage, sentiment, and overall impact to leadership

Required Skills & Experience
Qualifications
• Established relationships with journalists and editors across leading business and technology publications (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, WSJ, TechCrunch, etc.)
• Proven success securing high-impact earned media through direct outreach
• Experience in communications or PR within AI, enterprise software, deep tech, or complex B2B environments
• Exceptional writing and editorial skills with the ability to independently produce publication-ready content
• Track record of building internal communications capabilities and reducing reliance on agencies
• Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, global environment
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Preferred Experience
• Experience supporting companies through rapid growth, major funding events, or IPO readiness
• Strong existing media relationships in the U.S. market
• Familiarity with quantum computing or advanced AI landscapes
• Experience supporting C-level executive visibility and media engagement
• Proficient/fluent in Spanish

Compensation: $200,000-$250,000/year. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
