Job Description

An employer in San Francisco, CA is seeking a Data Orchestration & Analytics Architecture Consultant to design and advise on a scalable data flow and reporting architecture within Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role is strategy‑ and orchestration‑focused, not heavy hands‑on engineering. The consultant will define how data moves across systems, how it is stored and structured, and how it ultimately supports reporting and decision‑making. The ideal candidate can think holistically about future teams, growth, and maintainability, while translating business needs into a clear, executable technical blueprint.

Key Responsibilities
Data Architecture & Orchestration

Design end‑to‑end data flows from multiple source systems into a centralized data lake
Define orchestration logic for ingestion, transformation, and reporting refresh cycles
Ensure workflows are scalable, resilient, and easy for future teams to maintain
Advise on low‑code or orchestration‑first approaches where appropriate

GCP & BigQuery Advisory

Design analytics architecture leveraging BigQuery for reporting and insights
Define best practices for structuring and querying large datasets
Recommend GCP services and patterns aligned to analytics and reporting use cases
Ensure architecture supports growth in data volume and complexity

Data Modeling & Formats

Standardize data intake and movement using JSON‑based / object‑oriented data structures
Advise on handling structured and semi‑structured data
Define schemas, naming conventions, and data organization strategies

Reporting & Internal Tool Enablement

Design how curated data feeds dashboards and reporting tools
Advise on use of Decision platforms or internal tooling such as Retool or ToolJet

Ensure reporting workflows align with existing business logic (already defined)

Consultative Leadership & Handoff
Partner with stakeholders to validate requirements and assumptions
Think proactively about future teams, extensibility, and technical debt
Produce clear documentation, diagrams, and guidance for engineering handoff
Support selection and onboarding of a downstream implementation contractor
