Job Description

Octave is hiring an Analytics Engineer / Data Analyst to support a major BI and data transformation initiative alongside a broader cloud migration to GCP.
This individual will focus on rebuilding and standardizing Octave’s analytics layer using dbt, while helping transition reporting and dashboards into a more scalable, modern BI ecosystem. This is a highly visible role partnering closely with data, product, and business stakeholders.

• Support the migration and modernization of BI/reporting systems
• Build and maintain data models using dbt to create clean, reliable datasets for analytics and reporting
• Translate business requirements into scalable, well-documented data models
• Develop and optimize dashboards and reports in BI tools (Tableau, Hex, Looker, etc.)
• Partner with stakeholders to define KPIs, metrics, and reporting logic
• Ensure data quality, consistency, and governance across reporting layers
• Work closely with Data Engineers to align upstream pipelines and downstream analytics

Required Skills & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with dbt
• Experience working with modern BI tools (Tableau, Hex, Looker, or similar)
• Proficiency in SQL and data modeling best practices
• Experience building dashboards and translating data into business insights
• Strong ability to work with cross-functional stakeholders and gather requirements

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience supporting a BI migration or modernization initiative
• Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (BigQuery preferred, Redshift acceptable)
• Exposure to working alongside data engineering teams in a modern data stack
• Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries
