Job Description
Insight Global is looking for a mid-level Instrumentation and Controls engineer to join an industry leading water/wastewater engineering firm. The Mid‑Level Instrumentation and Controls Engineer plays a key role in the design and delivery of instrumentation and control systems for medium to large water and wastewater treatment projects, with a strong focus on P&ID development, control strategies, and control system documentation. This role works closely with project managers and clients to define scopes of work and translate process requirements into clear, functional control designs.
Key responsibilities include:
• Developing and maintaining P&IDs
• Creating detailed control strategies
• Reading, interpreting, and contributing to control panel drawings and layouts.
• Reviews submittals to ensure alignment with design intent and industry standards.
This position manages the instrumentation scope of medium to large projects, supports construction through technical reviews and site visits, and ensures designs meet quality, schedule, and budget expectations. The engineer coordinates with CADD technicians, participates in client workshops, and communicates complex control concepts in a clear, practical manner. Occasional travel is required to support project execution and field coordination.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation and Controls Engineer or Mechanical Engineering
- 3+ Years of experience within Water/Wastewater, Oil/Gas, Power Production or a related Field
- Strong experience interpreting Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Developing Operating Manuals and Reviewing Submittals
Ability/Willingness to obtain a Professional Engineering License in 6 Months to a year
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Professional Engineering License (CA Preferred)
